Siberian Husky Temperament

Siberian Husky is one of the best known domestic dogs. They are very well trained and selected by their ancient breeders, Chukchi Tribe. This might be the right breed for you if what you are looking for a dog that is friendly and gentle. You’ll most likely love their free-spirit as well.

A Siberian Husky’s temperament is quite pleasing and friendly as mentioned. This dog is easily adaptable to the changes in environment and is eager to please. This particular trait in this dog also makes it an efficient worker. This is one of the reasons they were used as sled dogs to carry loads.

Though a Siberian Husky’s temperament is friendly, they cannot be trained easily. As mentioned earlier, there is an independent streak in this breed. That makes it difficult for a novice owner to train a Siberian Husky. What this dog requires is an owner who can be firm while guiding. You need to show that you are the boss to be able to train them.

This is a dog which is friendly that would even greet strangers cordially. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Huskies might be a bad watch dog. However, if you are looking for afamily pet, this is the right dog to go for. Their friendly behavior and patience make them good companions for the kids. Additionally, what makes this dog kid friendly is that it’s quite playful and goofy. They have a lot of energy which needs to be expended. This is a breed which possesses not just adaptability but also versatility. They make them easy pets for people who are from different age ranges. Huskies display a great amount of affection towards their family as well.

However, a disadvantage comes along with this playfulness. It’s that it would be a laborious task to keep these dogs engaged. These dogs tend to get bored easily andhowl and whine when bored. Also, they can keep digging holes and chewing objects around the house. It’s because it’s not given adequate exercise to spend their energy.

Yet another aspect of the Siberian Husky is the predatory instincts they possess. They can easily co-exist with other dogs. But it couldn’t be said for them to co-exist with smaller animals. The predatory instinct in this breed is quite strong. It’s not convenient to breed smaller animals around Siberian Husky dogs. However it can’t be said it’s impossible to have them together.

This dog is a pleasure to have as long as you knows what to expect.
