Siberian Husky is one breed of dog that can take someone who has judged it by appearance completely by surprise.

A moderately built agile dog, Siberian Husky is a breed which has an independent mind and a gentle demeanor. Siberian Husky is a dog that is eager to please the owner but that doesn’t mean that this dog will be at the beck and call of its owner. This dog can be quite strong willed which also means that training this dog would require a lot of patience. However, if you are looking for a Siberian Husky for breeding purposes, here are a few standards that need to be considered.

A well breeded Siberian Husky should have the height between 21 and 23.5 inches, and weigh between 45 and 60 pounds. The highest range mentioned here should not be crossed as anything over the height or weight range is considered as a disqualification. Any Siberian Husky with extra weight or an extremely prominent bone structure is not considered as ideal. The head of a Siberian Husky should be rounded and tapering from base to end. It is also to be ensured that the size of the skull is proportionate to the body. If the skull structure is disproportionate or looks too chiseled, that is looked at as a fault.

The eyes of a Siberian Husky should be almond shaped, set moderately and in an oblique manner. Siberian Huskies can be found with either blue or brown eyes. They Siberian Huskies can have either partial or complete heterochromia which means to say that they can have either parti-colored eyes or both eyes possessing a different color. This condition is considered acceptable by the American Kennel Club. The ears of a Husky should be medium in size, triangular sized, round tipped and with a little arch in the back. They should also be covered with fur and fully erect. However, the Husky’s ears should not be drooping or too apart from each other. The nose of a Siberian Husky can be black, liver or flesh colored and snow nose is considered acceptable. The nose of a show quality Husky should never be pointed or square. The husky’s muzzle should not be too coarse, short or long but should be of medium length and should taper towards the nose. The only acceptable teeth are that which close in a scissors bite.

When it comes to the body of a Husky, a show quality dog should have medium length neck that should be arched and stand erect while walking. The chest should not be too broad but should be deep and strong. Also, the ribs should not be too flat or weak.

The Siberian Husky’s gait should be smooth and gliding, with a good reach in front quarters and good rive in hind quarters.

A Siberian Husky comes with different marking and print patterns which is unique to this breed. They come in all colors ranging from white to black, and they are all acceptable.
